Africa-Press – Uganda. Since the departure of former Uganda Federal Alliance (UFA) leader Betty Namisango Kamya, who joined the ruling NRM party, UFA has not fronted a presidential candidate for several years.

However, during a press briefing today, the party leadership announced that they are now prepared to participate actively in the upcoming presidential race.

“Although it has taken us time, we are now ready ,body and soul to ensure that one of our own leads this country so that the federal system can be implemented across the nation.”The party chairperson, Kizito Charles James, stated:

When asked why UFA had remained silent while other political parties had long begun their campaigns, the leaders clarified that they have been active behind the scenes.

“We were heavily involved in the Kawempe elections, where we secured the third position, which shows that we are more competent than some other parties here,” the party president added

“If I am elected president, I will prioritize the implementation of the federal system to promote development in every region of the country. That’s why I call on Ugandans not to vote for anyone who doesn’t understand the federal system.”Presidential asprant Mugasira Johnson Bosco declared:

Addressing recent controversy, party leaders distanced themselves from Dr. Robert Lugya, who was reportedly arrested at Entebbe Airport while claiming to be the UFA president.

“We don’t recognize Dr. Robert Lugya. That man is a fraud trying to hijack our party, and we have already involved the police in this matter,” they said.

“We are now mobilizing and calling on all those interested in contesting to come and collect nomination forms,” they announced.”The leaders concluded.
