Africa-Press – Uganda. Local football fans will be able to attend CHAN 2025 matches for as little as Shs3,600, following new ticket pricing guidance from the PAMOJA Steering Committee, which is coordinating the tournament across Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The committee has proposed a uniform three-tier ticket structure across the three host nations: $1 (Shs3,600) for ordinary tickets, $2 (Shs7,600) for VIP, and $3 (Shs11,400) for VVIP.

“We have received that guidance from the PAMOJA Steering Committee. We are now going to sit as the Ugandan Local Organising Committee led by the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, and decide whether to fix Tier I at Shs3,500, Shs4,000 or Shs5,000, but it cannot reach Shs10,000,” said Dennis Mugimba, chairperson of the Local Organising Committee’s Communications Committee.

The 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), scheduled for 2–30 August, will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

It is the first time in the tournament’s history that it will be staged in a tri-nation format.

Organised under the Confederation of African Football (CAF), CHAN is a prestigious tournament featuring players drawn exclusively from their domestic leagues.

It serves as a vital showcase of homegrown talent and a springboard for local players to break into international football.

CAF regulations require all host countries to adopt pricing that attracts large crowds while maintaining safety, comfort, and security.

The pricing also aims to cater to fans from different economic backgrounds by offering multiple access categories.

Uganda is expected to stage key matches at the refurbished Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, which reopened recently after years of renovation.

In the past, ticket prices at Namboole have ranged from Shs10,000 to Shs150,000 depending on the match type and seating section.

By contrast, the proposed CHAN pricing represents a sharp drop, with the lowest ticket potentially set at just a third of past general admission fees.

Organisers say this is intended to increase fan turnout and promote community participation.

Uganda has been drawn into Group C alongside Niger, Algeria, and South Africa—setting the stage for a competitive tournament that is expected to draw tens of thousands of fans across East Africa.

Beyond football, the event is being viewed as a major milestone for regional integration, tourism promotion, and the elevation of local sporting infrastructure.

Final ticket pricing for Ugandan venues will be confirmed after internal consultations by the Local Organising Committee.
