Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda’s Vice President, Maj. (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to represent President Museveni at the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU).
The high-level summit is scheduled to take place from February 13 to 15, 2026, in the Ethiopian capital.
Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, Vice President Alupo was received by Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Aleme Sime Feyisa; Uganda’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Rebecca Amuge; State Minister of Finance and Planning, Amos Lugolobi; and Brig. Gen. Fred Zakye Kateiza, Defence Advisor at Uganda’s Mission in Addis Ababa, among other officials.
The 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly is convened under the theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”
The summit follows the 48th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council, currently underway in Addis Ababa. It will also feature the 35th Summit of the African Peer Review (APR) Forum of Heads of State and Government, during which President Museveni is expected to be inaugurated as Chairperson of the APR Forum on February 13, 2026.
Additionally, the meeting of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC) will be held from February 14 to 15, 2026.
The summit is expected to bring together African leaders to deliberate on key continental priorities, including peace and security, economic integration, climate action, and sustainable development.
