Victorious Cadet Aims to Reclaim Bunyaruguru for Museveni

Africa-Press – Uganda. Benjamin Cadet, fresh from a decisive victory in the NRM primaries for Bunyaruguru Constituency, is rallying his supporters to “reclaim the soul” of the area while promising to mobilize every vote to secure President Museveni’s re-election in 2026.

Cadet clinched the NRM flag with 18,020 votes—61% of the total—defeating incumbent John Twesigye Ntamuhira, who managed 9,971 votes (33%), and David Katureebe Tugume, who took 1,791 votes (6%).

On Sunday, Cadet threw a grand victory party at Nyakasharu Playground that attracted over 5,000 party delegates and supporters from across Western Uganda.

Beyond celebrations and performances, the event marked the launch of a coordinated effort to boost grassroots support for Museveni’s presidential bid.

“This is not just about me,” said Cadet’s campaign manager.

“It’s about uniting Bunyaruguru behind a common vision. We will mobilize every resource, every vote, and every voice to ensure Benjamin’s win—and President Museveni’s continued leadership.”

With representatives from more than 20 districts present, Benjamin’s campaign team revealed plans for a regional tour aimed at building momentum for the NRM’s national agenda.

Political analysts see Benjamin as a rising power broker whose influence could extend well beyond Rubirizi.

“Benjamin’s ability to unite different factions and energize youth voters shows he’s shaping the future of the party,” said political strategist Dennis Olodi. “His victory party was a textbook example of coalition-building.”

As the 2026 elections approach, all eyes will be on Bunyaruguru—not just for its parliamentary race but for the wider impact of Benjamin’s leadership on Western Uganda’s political landscape.
