Africa-Press – Uganda. Vice President Jessica Alupo has called on voters in Soroti City to rally behind David Calvin Echodu, describing his candidature as a “blessing” that residents should not abandon if they are to achieve meaningful development.

Addressing supporters on Tuesday at Nakatunya Primary School during a campaign rally in Soroti City West, Alupo urged residents to rise above party divisions and vote for leaders she said are capable of delivering tangible services.

She appealed to voters of all political affiliations to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and David Calvin Echodu in the forthcoming elections.

“Leadership is about results and service to the people. I call upon voters of all sections and all party colours not to leave this blessing,” Alupo said, referring to Echodu’s candidature.“When you vote President Museveni and David Calvin Echodu, you are voting for development.”

The Vice President praised Echodu for his commitment to addressing key challenges facing Soroti City, including youth unemployment, infrastructure gaps, and service delivery shortcomings. She noted that working with leaders aligned to the ruling NRM government would enhance coordination and fast-track development projects in the city.

Alupo also highlighted various government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and urged residents to support leaders who can effectively lobby for and implement such initiatives at the local level.

In his remarks, David Calvin Echodu thanked the Vice President for the endorsement and pledged to prioritise the needs of Soroti City West if elected to Parliament. He promised to focus on youth empowerment, improved urban infrastructure, and better access to government programmes.

The rally attracted supporters from different parts of Soroti City as the campaign for the Soroti City West Member of Parliament seat continues to gain momentum ahead of polling day.
