West Nile Mps to Stage Peaceful Demo over Dilapidated Road

Africa-Press – Uganda. The West Nile Parliamentary Caucus has announced plans to stage a peaceful demonstration to protest the deplorable condition of the Nebbi-Paida-Zombo via Vurra road.

Led by Vice Chairperson Dr George Didi Bhoka, Isaac Otimgiw, and Gabriel Okumu, the legislators expressed frustration over years of government neglect, despite the road’s inclusion in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) manifesto for two decades.

“We are tired of empty promises from the government,” the MPs said. “The cost of doing business has gone high because of the road,” Dr Bhoka emphasised.

“We have peace in West Nile, but we don’t eat peace. We need tangible development,” added MP Okumu.

The MPs described the removal of the road’s funding from the 2025/2026 national budget as a betrayal of the people of West Nile.

“We deserve a fair share of the national cake,” they stressed, urging the government to prioritise the road’s rehabilitation.

The demonstration is scheduled to take place on Thursday this week.
