Africa-Press – Zambia. NAIS- The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has dispatched over 790,000 doses of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines to Southern Province as part of efforts to strengthen cattle disease control.

In addition, the Ministry has sent over 38,500 doses of East Coast Fever vaccines and 101,000 doses of Anthrax vaccines to support broader livestock health initiatives.

Southern Province Provincial Veterinary Officer, Dr. Wilfred Tembo, stated that the FMD vaccines will be administered to cattle in high-risk areas across the province. He emphasized that these interventions are aimed at growing the national cattle herd to 7.4 million and preparing Zambia for beef exports.
