Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. THE Association of Mine Managers of Zimbabwe (AMMZ) has announced a new presidium and council led by Shamva Mine general manager Gift Mapakame.
He takes over the reins from the presidium led by Abel Makura, which run the affairs of the association for the past two years.
The new presidium and council will lead the association until 2027.
The AMMZ is an arm of the Chamber of Mines of Zimbabwe, which was formed in 1972.
Mapakame will be deputised by RZM Murowa’s George Wayeni.
Members of the council include Makura (Mototolo Mine RSA), Dave Matyanga, Ray Chiridza (Acol Chemicals), Lewis Munyoro (Pan African), Eddington Vere (Kuvimba Mining House) and Larnston Gowera (Vision).
Other members include Sandres Sandres (Freda Rebecca), Elton Gwatidzo (Blanket Mine), Alfred Chinyere (Freda Rebecca) and Coburn Katanda (Pickstone).
Commenting on his election, Mapakame said he was ready to serve as the new president and promised to do more with the help of his colleagues.
“As an association, we have a significant task ahead of us,” he said.
