DYNAMOS kept their hopes of surviving alive after dispatching Kwekwe United 3-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Ascot Stadium yesterday.

Goals from Jairos Kasondo, Wisdom Mutasa and Ransom Chingwara were all The Glamour Boys needed to collect maximum points.

Kasondo and Mutasa scored in the first half while Chingwara’s goal came moments before the final whistle.

It was also the first time Dynamos managed to score three goals this season, moreso making it two straight wins in the league plus their two Chibuku Super Cup wins in the preliminary round and the first round.

They, however, remain on 17th position, with 22 points on their tally, albeit with high hopes of rising from the murky waters of relegation considering their form.

And coach Kelvin Kaindu reckons this instant connection he developed with the players has been the point of difference.

He said: “They accepted me very quickly and that has paid off. We needed this win. We played well and scored some good goals.

“Especially the third goal, we did well from the build-up until we got the goal. The team is good and everyone is in the mood to win. It gives us a bit of confidence and belief.”

Added Kaindu: “What is important is for us to keep the players grounded. These games are not easy. We are doing well to overcome the challenges. Right now, focus is on the next games.

“Kwekwe did not make it easy for us, they put up a fight, especially in the second half. Look at the number of corners they got. But I saw a lot of improvements today, and we are moving in the right direction.”

His counterpart Masimba Dinyero conceded that they lost the relegation battle.

Dinyero said: “There are many simple goals which are avoidable and for the youngsters, they are learning the hard way.

“They have to be focused on everything they do in the field of play. And for them, it’s a good wake-up call.

“For us, it is now a big task, but they [Dynamos] can survive if they win at least five of the next games.”
