Bulawayo Residents Face Extended Water Supply Disruptions

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The City of Bulawayo has advised residents and stakeholders that ongoing upgrade works at the Umzingwane Pump Station have been delayed, pushing back the expected restoration of full water supply.

The improvements, initially scheduled for completion on Monday, 6 October 2025, have been delayed due to delays in the delivery of materials and fabrication processes at the site.

Town Clerk Christopher Dube on Tuesday, 07 October, said that the City now expects the works to be completed, with all systems successfully tested, by Friday, 10 October 2025.

In the meantime, the water supply will remain inconsistent and will be managed according to reservoir levels. Distribution will also depend on the capacity of the city’s reservoirs.

The upgrades are meant to boost pumping capacity and make the water supply more reliable for Bulawayo residents.
