Irvines Zimbabwe Donates to Danhiko for World Egg Day

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Irvines Zimbabwe, a leading poultry producer, celebrated World Egg Day last Friday by making a generous donation of 3,600 eggs and 100 kilograms of chicken to Danhiko School in Msasa, Harare.

This donation is part of Irvines’ ongoing commitment to support the community, as it adds to the company’s regular weekly contributions over the last 10 years, demonstrating a long-standing partnership with the school.

As part of its 29th anniversary of World Egg Day celebrations, the company aimed to promote healthy eating habits, especially among disadvantaged communities, including children with impairments.

During the handover event, Irvines’ Sales and Operations Executive, Wilfred Marerwa, spoke about the company’s mission to ensure “eggs for everyone,” while emphasizing the importance of strengthening community ties.

“This theme, which originated in Vienna 29 years ago, highlights the incredible ability of eggs to bring people together across cultures, traditions, and generations. At Irvines, we are proud to extend our support to institutions like Danhiko, ensuring that they continue to thrive,” Marerwa said.

“We believe in empowering communities through proper nutrition. World Egg Day is more than just a celebration of eggs; it’s an opportunity to support those who are underprivileged, particularly individuals with disabilities,” he added.

Danhiko School head, Tawanda Musariri, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the donation, noting that it would significantly enhance the nutritional well-being of the learners and foster stronger collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions.

“For learners with disabilities, we currently have 94 students, including those with hearing impairments, physical disabilities, and autism. While we do not have the capacity to cater to all disabilities, today is especially meaningful as we commemorate World Egg Day at our institution, thanks to Irvines’ generosity,” Musariri said.

“Irvines has supported us for the past 10 years with weekly donations of chickens and eggs, which provide crucial nutrition for our students. We are deeply thankful for their continued support. Today, they have donated 3,600 eggs and 100 kilograms of chicken meat, which will go a long way in benefiting our learners.”

In line with its goal of promoting a healthier, more inclusive nation, Irvines Zimbabwe remains dedicated to supporting community-driven initiatives. Through sustainable egg production, the company aims to enhance nutrition and foster social inclusion across Zimbabwe.
