Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A SECURITY guard employed by a Chinese couple teamed up with accomplices to rob his employer of cash and property worth US$37 000.
Brian Kambarami (43) and Tinashe Muguti (38), one of the accomplices, appeared in court and were remanded in custody to September 15. They were advised to approach the High Court for bail application.
They appeared before Harare magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.
The court heard that on August 23 this year, Shaolin Chen and his wife arrived at their place of residence in Harare at night, driving a white Toyota Prado.
When the couple entered the yard, the accused persons, who were hiding in the premises armed with pistols and wearing balaclavas, charged towards it.
They allegedly opened the passenger door and snatched the complainant’s white handbag containing US$32 000, a Samsung Galaxy cellphone, car keys and Casino clips valued at US$5 000 and fled the scene.
The couple reported the matter at ZRP Mbare.
Closed-circuit television footage revealed that one of the suspects, Kambarami, was a security guard employed by the Chinese couple.
Upon questioning, Kambarami admitted having committed the offence in the company of Muguti and other accomplices still on the run.
He then led to the recovery of US$800 at his homestead, which he got as his share.
Police recovered US$840 from Muguti.
