Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. EcoSure, the long-term insurance arm of Econet, has introduced a new funeral insurance product targeted at Zimbabweans living abroad and designed to ease the financial and emotional burden of repatriating deceased loved ones back home.
EcoSure Diaspora Cover offers benefits of up to US$15 000 from monthly premiums starting from as low as US$12. For Zimbabaweans living in South Africa, premiums start from R54 per month, with cover of up to R150 000 or full repatriation services to Zimbabwe.
EcoSure said the new cover was designed to address a pressing need among the country’s growing diaspora community.
“Too many families have had to rely on social media crowd funding campaigns to cover funeral and repatriation costs of their loved ones,” a company representative said.
“With EcoSure Diaspora Cover, we are offering a reliable and affordable solution that brings peace of mind to those in the diaspora and their families back home,” the representative said as the company launched the product at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) Winter School 2025 and Investment Conference held in the United Kingdom last week.
There are an estimated three million Zimbabweans living in the diaspora, many of whom have to deal with high funeral costs and complex logistics when a loved on passes on. EcoSure Diaspora Cover makes it possible for families abroad to secure dignified repatriation for their loved ones, while also allowing policyholders to add dependents living in Zimbabwe at local rates.
The policy is accessible online at www.ecosure.co.zw/diaspora, enabling Zimbabweans abroad to register, manage online premium payments, and extend cover to family members back home. Beneficiaries also have the option of a cash payout, giving them flexibility to manage funeral arrangements according to their needs.
To guarantee seamless service delivery, EcoSure has partnered with reputable funeral service providers with proven expertise in repatriation logistics.
Launched in 2014, EcoSure is one of Zimbabwe’s largest micro-insurance providers, with millions of policyholders across the country.
Its mission is to make life insurance affordable, accessible and inclusive, particularly for low-income and previously uninsured communities.
