Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. NORTHERN Region Division One log leaders N’ombeyaora are poised to bolster their position at the summit as they host Ali Sundowns FC at The Heart Stadium this afternoon.
With second-placed Agama FC facing a tricky fixture against the high-flying third placed Golden Eagles at Ellis Brown High School grounds tomorrow, N’ombeyaora could widen the gap significantly.
On paper, N’ombeyaora’s match-up appears straightforward.
However, under the guidance of coach Nesbert Saruchera, the team should remain vigilant against a Sundowns side battling relegation.
“At this stage of the competition, our aim is to collect all points home and away in order to open the gap at the top,” Saruchera said
Known affectionately as “The Hunters” by their passionate supporters, N’ombeyaora will look to their star players, Tadiwa Chibunyu, who shares the top scorer title with 10 goals, and Russel Chifura, who has netted nine times this season.
Meanwhile, Agama FC will rely on the striking prowess of Tinashe Balakayi and Simon Kufandada, both of whom have contributed significantly to their attack with 10 goals each.
They will be pushing for a crucial win against the in-form Golden Eagles, who are eager to maintain their impressive run.In other matches, Moses “Bambo” Chunga’s Chegutu Pirates will travel to face Trojan Stars, aiming to prove that their recent resurgence is no fluke.
Additionally, Arthur Tutani’s FC Oden will undertake a long journey to Mashonaland Central province, where they will meet bottom-placed Shamva Mine, seeking to capitalise on their opponents’ struggles.
As the season progresses, every match is critical, and today and tomorrow promises to deliver excitement and drama in the race for promotion.
