Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi, the wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has donated over 20 wheelchairs and US$2,000 to support musician Greatman’s charity initiative, which provides mobility aids to people in underprivileged communities who urgently need them.

Greatman, whose real name is Tongai Gwaze, is an Afro-fusion artist living with a physical disability. The donation followed a personal appeal he made to Colonel Baloyi under his project, “Vision 2040 Makumbo Kuvanhu.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, 15 November, Greatman expressed his gratitude to Colonel Baloyi for her visit and her commitment to empowering people with disabilities. The statement reads:

“Hi, good morning everyone, we, as the Greatman Foundation, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Vice President’s wife for honouring us with her presence at our humble abode.

“Her visit was a tremendous boost to our morale and a testament to her commitment to empowering people with disabilities.

“We are amazed by her humble gesture, taking the time to get to know where we live and understand our challenges.

“We are equally grateful for her generous donation of 20 wheelchairs and fuel money, which will go a long way in enhancing the mobility and independence of our beneficiaries as we distribute.

“This selfless act is a reflection of her compassion and dedication to improving the lives of those living with disabilities.

“Her support of our vision is a shining example of her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those in need.

“We appreciate that her actions demonstrate her sympathy with the plea of her children born with this unfortunate condition, and we are grateful for her willingness to make a difference.

“We emphasise that this gesture is in no way politically motivated, but rather a demonstration of her genuine concern for the welfare of people with disabilities. It is a testament to her pure will and intention to make a positive impact.

“We take this opportunity to invite individuals and organisations who share our vision to join us in our quest to create a more inclusive society.

“Our next destination is to try and talk with the First Lady mhamha First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, to share our vision and explore ways of collaboration as we strive towards our vision 2040.

“Once again, we thank the Vice President’s wife, Mhamha Minnie Baloyi, for her kindness, generosity, and support.

“Her actions have inspired us to continue striving for a brighter future for all individuals with disabilities.”
