Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. A self-proclaimed Johanne Masowe yeChishanu prophet has been arrested in Eastview for the alleged ritual killing of a 12-year-old boy, whose mutilated body was discovered in a nearby yard.
Panashe Mukura, 32, is accused of murdering Keith Anesu John, a fellow church member he had reportedly been staying with for over a month, in a suspected attempt to harvest body parts for ritual purposes.
It is alleged that on Sunday, around 6 AM, Mukura approached the boy’s mother, claiming he could not find Anesu. Concerned neighbours joined the search, which led to the discovery of a trail of blood beginning at the doorstep.
The trail led to a nearby garden where the boy’s body was found lying between sweet potato ridges. His head was partially buried under soil, his clothes bloodied, and his trousers pulled down to knee level.
A pair of scissors was lodged in the right side of his neck, and a small cut was visible on his cheek. The child’s scrotum had been cut open.
During police interrogation, Mukura reportedly confessed to killing Anesu with the intention of selling his private parts to an unnamed buyer.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Ruth Moyo on Tuesday facing a charge of murder.
He was remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail through the High Court.
