Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe has reinforced its support for the country’s health sector by leading a key trade mission to China.

The delegation included managing directors, chief executives, and senior doctors from private hospitals.

The week-long mission visited Shanghai, Yiwu, Hangzhou, and Tonglu, focusing on collaboration in medical technology, equipment sourcing, and hospital infrastructure development.

Tapuwa Nyika, Stanbic Bank’s head of trade and Africa China banking, said Standard Bank Group subsidiary was pleased to connect Zimbabwe’s health sector to global opportunities.

“Our role as Stanbic Bank is to be a bridge – connecting Zimbabwean institutions with international partners who can help drive development across all economic sectors,” Nyika said.

“This mission focused on key players in the health sector because it is one of the most critical pillars of our economy.”

He indicated that the bank’s Africa-China Banking platform helps clients access reliable suppliers, negotiate financing, and adopt cutting-edge medical solutions.

Stanbic Bank’s head of public sector banking and head of delegation, Sarah Charangwa, described the mission as educational and transformative.

“The experience in China was eye-opening. Our clients saw first-hand how efficiency, innovation, and public-private collaboration have transformed China’s healthcare system,” Charangwa said.

She confirmed the bank is positioned to support local institutions through financing, advisory services, and structured trade solutions.

Charangwa also highlighted the bank’s ongoing support through direct funding and corporate social responsibility initiatives, including equipment donations and facility upgrades.

The two officials said the mission builds on Stanbic’s existing efforts to facilitate Zimbabwe-China trade, including its annual ‘Stanbic China Day’ and a partnership providing access to over 10,000 Chinese suppliers.
