SUSPENDED Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (Zinara) boss Nancy Masiyiwa-Chamisa, who has been on suspension since June 2018, only learnt on ZBC news that the board was replacing her.
According to a source, Masiyiwa-Chamisa only got to know about losing her job on ZBC news when the Zinara Board chairperson Engineer Michael Madanha announced that the Chief Executive Officer’s post was vacant.
Masiyiwa-Chamisa, was suspended last year over a corruption scandal that rocked the parastatal last year. The issue is now a subject of discussion at Parliament’s public accounts committee.
Confirming the development, Madanha said the board will only terminate her services upon expiry of her contract which is nearing its end.
He also said the board will pay her off until her contract expires.
“Masiyiwa-Chamisa has not yet been fired, but her contract is not going to be renewed and we are going to pay her of until the expiry of her contract,” he said.
Masiyiwa-Chamisa was last year suspended with pay and benefits.
Charges against the Zinara boss included wilful abuse of authority and victimisation of officers of the authority based on factors not driven from recorded detail or their conduct and performance.
She was also accused of gross incompetence or “ineffectiveness in the performance of her duties” and abuse of office after allegedly fraudulently claiming Zinara had guaranteed her personal loan from a local bank.
