VICE President Kembo Mohadi has toured Irvines Zimbabwe Production Plant in Harare on an appreciation tour of the company’s operations.

The familiarisation tour of Irvines by Vice President Kembo is consistent with the government’s economic development agenda where enhanced support to local companies is the long-term strategic vision.

Speaking after the tour, Vice President Mohadi pledged assistance to the company as it is spearheading food self-sufficiency in the country.

“As the government, our long term goal for the poultry industry is to see Zimbabwe getting back to the position where it can be self-sufficient and furthermore to be able to grow its own grain and I am optimistic this can be done through different government programmes currently being implemented,” he said.

The company’s Chief executive Officer, David Irvines said his company is committed to the economic development of the country and empowerment of local people, hence it will work with other stakeholders to see the national vision coming to fruition.
“We believe we have a vibrant private sector in the country and together with the government we can collaborate on regulations and foster solutions for the progression of the economy,”said Irvines.
The company’s high-end technology production value chain systems churn out million-day old chicks and four million eggs weekly.

The company also prides in contributing towards the local empowerment of farmers as 90% of the broiler chickens that go through the firm’s processing plant are grown by contract farmers.
