Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. AN 85-year-old caretaker is admitted to hospital after surviving an axe attack in Kensington, Bulawayo, in whatpolice have classified as attempted murder.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed the incident, which occurred on August 10 at around 5pm.
“The elderly victim was in his room at the plot where he works when the suspect, a woman known to him by face, entered and demanded sex,” said Msebele.
When the caretaker refused, the enraged woman grabbed an axe from inside the room and struck him once on the right side of the neck, leaving him with a deep cut.
Despite sustaining serious injury, the victim managed to alert authorities and he was rushed by ambulance to hospital for treatment.
“As police, we urge the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid violence,” Msebele said.
“We appeal to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspect to report to the nearest police station.”
