Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. HARARE, May 11 (NewsDayLive)- The Community Water Alliance (CWA) is set to convene a pivotal conference for civil society organizations (CSOs) in Zimbabwe, focused on the Post 2025 Africa Water Vision and Policy, it has emerged.
The event, to be held on May 13, aims to galvanise stakeholder participation in shaping the future of water governance in Africa as a precursor to the upcoming 3rd Pan-African Implementation and Partnership Conference (PANAFCON 3) in Lusaka, Zambia, scheduled for later this month.
The conference’s mission is to enhance the involvement of various stakeholders in the formulation of the Africa Water Vision and to raise awareness about the ongoing processes.
According to the organisers, this initiative is crucial for addressing the fragmentation in stakeholder voices and ensuring a collective vision for water governance in Zimbabwe.
“The absence of active participation from CSOs in the formulation of the Post 2025 Water Vision has created significant challenges,” said Hardlife Mudzingwa, CWA executive director.
“Our goal is to provide a platform for stakeholders to understand the roadmap and contribute meaningfully to the discussions.”
With a history of engagement in water governance, CWA acknowledges the efforts of the government of Zimbabwe in conducting national consultations.
However, the organisation pointed out that many stakeholders remain unaware of the ongoing processes. The recent consultations held from March 24 to 26 saw low attendance from CSOs and international NGOs, highlighting a critical gap that the conference seeks to address.
