Zim tourism to emerge stronger after Covid-19

The 2020 Virtual Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo ended on a high note with participants expressing confidence in the ability of Zimbabwe tourism to emerging much stronger after the devastating impact on Covid-19 on the industry.

The annual tourism fair which is fast growing into one of the biggest exhibitions for the global travel and tourism industry, provided a platform for tourism stakeholders to network and develop strategies to ensure a speedy recovery of the tourism industry.

Environment Climate Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Honourable Mangaliso Ndlovu expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and outlined Zimbabwe’s initiatives aimed at positioning the destination to its key source markets.

“The hosting of the Expo is a welcome development aimed at providing a platform for the industry to network with the key source markets. The hosting of the virtual Sanganai/Hlnganani World Tourism Expo marks the beginning of many initiatives that seek to position our destination to the local, regional and international market.”

The cabinet minister assured the source markets of the country’s resolve to ensure a responsible restart to tourism guided by the recently launched Zimbabwe Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy and the World Health Organisation (W.H.O) safety protocols.

The 2020 Virtual Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo attracted more than 150 local and international exhibitors and over 100 tourism buyers from various source markets.

Zimbabwe topped the list of the top 15 safest tourist destinations to visit post-COVID-19, according to the recently released rankings by a United States-based travel agency.
