Africa-Press – Angola. The oil city of Soyo, province of Zaire, hosts, from Monday to Tuesday, the XI Consultative Council of the Ministry of Energy and Water, whose opening is made by the minister, João Baptista Borges.
The spokesperson for the event’s organizing committee, Arlindo Carlos, told the press yesterday that the forum, taking place in one of the rooms of the Nempanzu hotel, expects the participation of more than two dozen delegates, including sector staff and guests. , with emphasis on the provincial governor, Pedro Makita Júlia.
Arlindo Carlos said that the participants at the meeting should make an exhaustive approach, in a total of five panels, on the current state of public services for electricity supply and water supply, as well as envisaging actions leading to the sustainable development of this important sector. from the country.
“This approach is reflected in five panels, which will also frame discussions associated with sustainability and climate resilience to which all projects developed, whether in the water or energy subsectors”, he said. He added that during the event, which takes place under the motto “Water and Energy: economic growth and social progress”, the recommendations issued by the 10th Consultative Council, as well as the sector’s actions corresponding to the period between 2018 and 2022.
“We believe that the Angolan State has developed projects that contribute to the significant improvement of the public service of electricity supply, as are ongoing, and that projects will have been implemented that should contribute to the improvement of the public service of water supply, both to the populations, or to the transforming industries and to agriculture”, he recalled.
It should be remembered that the municipality of Soyo is home to one of the largest energy production projects, the Combined Cycle of Gas Turbines, integrated into the national energy supply network (North System), with a maximum capacity of 750MW.
