Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated the Swiss people and Government this Monday, on the occasion of the National Day of the Swiss Confederation, which is celebrated on 1 August.
In a message addressed to Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, the Angolan Head of State praises the high level of achievement achieved by that European country, in the political, economic and social spheres, which have made Switzerland one of the most developed nations in the world.
In a note from the Press Secretary of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço expresses his willingness and total availability to his Swiss counterpart to continue working towards friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic and cooperation relations between Angola and the Swiss Confederation date back to the early years of National Independence, achieved on November 11, 1975.
The cooperation between the two countries essentially translates into humanitarian aid actions, namely demining and the construction of the Agrarian Technical School of Catofe, located in the municipality of Quibala, province of Cuanza-Sul.
The two States have been establishing consultations at the diplomatic and political level, among other contacts, on the enhancement of bilateral, regional and multilateral relations.
Swiss National Day has been celebrated annually since 1 August 1891.
