Africa-Press – Angola. Over the next few years, Angola will boost exports of various products to the United States, South Africa and Zambia, within the framework of a cooperation protocol signed this year with the USAID Southern Africa Investment and Trade Center -Trade-Hub, with the objective of promoting national production, said, in Luanda, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola (CCIA), Vicente Soares.

Vicente Soares, who was speaking to the press, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola, which took place under the motto “Together and organized, we do better”, highlighted that the commercial cooperation protocol, initialed with USAID-Trade -Hub, is part of the Executive’s strategic program to support production, diversify exports and replace imports.

According to Vicente Soares, cooperation with USAID-Trade-Hub aims to increase Angola’s economic growth, the competitiveness of exports and trade with the United States, South Africa and Zambia.

He underlined that USAID-Trade-Hub is a platform aimed at trade, where Angola will be able to establish business agreements with companies operating outside the country, to boost exports in the three target countries.

“We have already started with the identification of national companies that want to export their products to countries that are part of the USAID-Trade-Hub platform, such as the United States, South Africa and Zambia. At the moment, we have the registration of eight Angolan companies who have already expressed an interest in exporting their products. But, for that to happen, it is necessary that they meet a series of requirements in order to be accepted on the platform”, he said, referring that, of the eight companies, one managed to complete the process accession to the platform for exports.

According to the manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Angola, the objective of joining the USAID-Trade-Hub is for the country to gain a market in the United States, South Africa and Zambia, for the export of national products. He indicated that, along with this cooperation, Angola maintains commercial protocols with Serbia, Zimbabwe and Namibia for product exports.

USAID-Trade-Hub works with various market players to identify and address business constraints and implement sustainable solutions through investment and trade facilitation services in target countries.

Poor production

Vicente Soares said that, in recent years, exports of products from Angola have been increasing, which demonstrates the willingness of national businessmen to contribute to the growth of foreign exchange in the country.

“In general, exports tend to increase, because we have received requests from foreign investors who want to import products such as Coffee, Cocoa and Honey from Angola, but the biggest problem is that the country still does not have the capacity to respond. Germany and Serbia wants to import coffee, cocoa and salt, but Angola does not have the capacity to respond at the moment”, he said, appealing to national investors to increase production so that the country has the capacity to export.
