"We want Norwegian companies to help diversify our economy"

Africa-Press – Angola. Norway’s investments, apart from the oil sector, are still not very significant, which is why Angola wants the involvement of that country’s companies in other sectors to help diversify the productive base with greater speed and efficiency.

This appeal was made by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Thursday morning (17th), at the Grand Hotel in Oslo.

According to João Lourenço, given the serious food crisis that the world is going through as a result of the war in Ukraine, Angola can play an important role as an exporter of food products such as wheat, rice, beans, soy and beef if the necessary investments are made to obtaining “good” results in the short and medium term.

“The country has arable land and abundant watercourses for agriculture and livestock, and a climate that allows for at least two harvests per year, and has railways and ports for export,” he said.

The Head of State was the main speaker at the Angola – Norway Business Forum, which brings together, in the Norwegian capital, more than 30 businessmen, including Norwegians, Angolan residents and others who traveled on purpose to the event organized by NABA (Norwegian – African Business Association ), in partnership with the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX).
