Africa-Press – Angola. The Municipal Administration of Porto Amboim, Cuanza Sul province, awarded this Monday a construction work for the Fresh Fish Market, financed by the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities, in the amount of Kz 213 million.
The Fresh Fish Market, which is being built in an area of 1,700 square meters and over a period of 12 months, will have nine cold rooms with a capacity of 50 tonnes, 60 benches, administrative and service areas.
Of the value of the work, Kz 200 million is up to the construction company – Resolveng Civil Construction and Kz 13 million to the inspection company Encigespro Engenharia Civil.
Seventy-seventy direct and 60 indirect jobs were created with the construction of this infrastructure.
The signatories were the municipal administrator of Porto Amboim, Maria Sumano, and the contractor Eduardo Lopes Carneiro.
On the occasion, Maria Sumano said that the start of the work, part of another PIIM project, will undoubtedly bring hope for better days to the fresh fish sellers, due to the fact that the district has potential in the fishing sector.
“We request the good offices of the company to comply with the contractual clauses, to see a market worthy of a favorable and organized business environment for its inhabitants”, he stressed.
He urged rigor, speed and goodwill in the execution of the contract, so that, in the end, it would be of the desired quality.
Mercado do Peixe is part of seven projects inscribed in the local PIIM, of which four are completed and two are in progress. In addition to the seven construction and equipping projects for the new Municipal Hospital and the conclusion of the municipal building.
The municipality of Porto Amboim had, in 2022, a portfolio of seven PIIM projects and registered a physical execution of 82 percent and a financial execution of 83 percent. The value of the contract is Kz two billion, 798 million, 265 thousand, 234.01 cents and Kz 182 million, 113 thousand and 400 remains to be paid.
The municipality of Porto Amboim had, in the last two years, a capture of more than 10 thousand tons of different fish, involving artisanal and semi-industrial fishing.
