Africa-Press – Angola. Goalkeeper Landu Langanga will not play for two months due to an injury to his left knee, missing Sagrada Esperança in the second round of the National Football Championship of the First Division “Girabola2022/23”.

The club’s management, through its Marketing and Communication Office, announced that the player will travel, in the next few days, to South Africa, for surgery on his left knee.

To make up for the absence of Langanga, one of the main assets and undisputed holder of the “Lundas”, the board of Sagrada Esperança must hire a goalkeeper in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), who plays for Vita FC, whose name was not revealed .

Last season (2021/2022), the goalkeeper did not play any game, also due to an injury in the lumbar region.

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Landu Langanga, 26 years old, has already represented Benfica de Luanda (2015-2016), Recreativo da Caála (2017), Sporting de Cabinda (2018), Kabuscorp do Palanca (2018-2019) and arrived at Sagrada Esperança in 2019.

For the Lunda Norte team, the goalkeeper has already won the “Girabola2021”, a season in which he conceded just ten goals in 30 games, having been considered the best in his position. He was also crowned champion of the Angola Super Cup (2022).

In 2022, the player decided to acquire Angolan nationality and has been one of the options of coach Pedro Gonçalves in the National Team.

For CHAN in Algeria, the goalkeeper was called up, but the worsening of the injury will prevent him from representing the “Palancas Negras” in the African competition, for players who play in domestic championships.

Internship in Luanda

To prepare the second round of the National Championship, Sagrada Esperança started yesterday, a 12-day internship, in the country’s capital, under the technical command of Francisco Moniz “Frank”.

Two control games are planned with two local teams (Luanda).

Before leaving for Luanda, coach Francisco Moniz told the press that the club’s objective in the second round is to occupy the top of the league table and gain access to African competitions (League of Champions Clubs or Nelson Mandela Cup).

He said that the group still continues to “dream” with the possible conquest of the title.

Sagrada Esperança finished the first round of Girabola2022/23 in fifth place with 27 points, the result of eight wins, three draws and four defeats.

He has been national champion twice (2005 and 2021) and winner of the Angola Cup (1988 and 1999) and the Angola Super Cup (2021).
