Africa-Press – Angola. The Head of State of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, paid tribute Wednesday, to former Angolan presidents António Agostinho Neto and José Eduardo dos Santos.

The Zambian statesman laid wreaths of flowers in the sarcophagus of Agostinho Neto and in the tomb where the mortal remains of José Eduardo dos Santos rest.

In the honor book, he praised Neto’s contribution to the liberation struggle, the country’s development and the well-being of Angolans.

Hakainde Hichilema took a guided tour of the Memorial Dr. António Agostinho Neto, passing by the sarcophagus and the various exhibition rooms, including personal articles of the founding President of the Angolan nation.

Agostinho Neto was born on September 17, 1922 and died on September 10, 1979, in Moscow, former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

In Praça da República, the Zambian President went to the tomb where the remains of José Eduardo dos Santos rest, where he also placed a wreath of flowers.

José Eduardo dos Santos was born on August 28, 1942 and died on July 8, 2022, in Barcelona, ​​Spain, due to illness.

The President of Zambia arrived in Luanda on Tuesday, for a 72-hour state visit to Angola, at the invitation of his counterpart João Lourenço.

The Angolan Head of State visited Zambia, a neighboring country, in 2018.

Zambia is located east of Angola. The two countries share a land border of 1,110 kilometers in length.
