Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived today, Sunday, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), to participate in the Sustainability Week, a forum dedicated to the environment.
In the political capital of the UAE, where he landed accompanied by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, the
Angolan Head of State will participate, on Tuesday, in the panel on access to clean energy and its importance for Africa.
The referred panel will also have the participation of the Presidents of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, Uganda,
Yoweri Museveni, and of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu.
It is the second time that President João Lourenço has been invited to express, in Abu Dhabi, his ideas on a more sustainable world, within the framework of the Sustainability Week.
The first took place in January 2019.
Sustainability
Week Sustainability Week will run until the 19th of this month, under the motto “United in Climate Action Towards COP28”.
Organized by Masdar, a company dedicated to Sustainable Development issues, the meeting will be attended by world leaders linked to public policies and investors, who will discuss and seek solutions to the challenges of the energy sector.
On the sidelines of the event, the holding, for the first time, of a Green Hydrogen Summit is scheduled, with a focus on the decarbonization process of industries and the environment.
The annual forum of the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy platform at Masdar is also scheduled, giving women a voice in the debate.
The organizers expect to receive around 30,000 visitors from the areas of energy and the environment, which should have around 800 exhibitors from 40 countries and 250 speakers.
Diplomatic representation in the UAE
Angola opened a diplomatic representation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2004, through a general consulate, which, four years later, became an embassy.
Angola and the UAE are members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and have signed two agreements.
The two countries cooperate, among others, in the areas of oil, gas and agriculture.
