Africa-Press – Angola. Around 200 people make up the Angolan community in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), 51 percent of which are women.

The consul general of Angola in Dubai, André Morgado, informed this Sunday that part of that community is dedicated to civil construction, catering, trade and the provision of services as freight forwarders.

Speaking to the press, in Abu Dhabi, where he traveled as part of the participation of the Angolan President, João Lourenço, in the Sustainability Week, the consul underlined his commitment to the Community.

“Our relationship with the community is unconditional”, he stressed, adding that, in general, Angolan citizens registered in the region, by the Consulate, are properly socially framed.

He highlighted the fact that there are two Angolan stewardesses of an international company from the United Arab Emirates.

Still among the approximately 200 Angolans registered at the consulate, he said that 50 percent of these are students in the field of engineering, noting that there are “two or three citizens” doing pilotage.

We have records, he continued, of an Angolan woman who recently completed a course in aerospace engineering, as well as others in the computer engineering sector.

Consular services

Of the different services provided by the Consulate of Angola, the consul general in Dubai highlighted the issuing of passports, identity cards, as well as the transcription of birth/marriage records.

Interest of UAE citizens in Angola

According to the consul André Morgado, the interest of investors from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in going to Angola is growing. “We have received many citizens interested in investing in Angola”.

The official estimated the total number of visa requests per year at 60, most of which are for tourism purposes.

“We have information that there are many foreigners who go and end up requesting to stay in Angola”, said the consul, for whom this interest represents “a good sign”.

He recalled, with regard to the issuance of an entry visa in Angola, a Decree that guides the facilitation of the concession, under the terms required by law.

Angola and the United Arab Emirates maintain close ties of cooperation in sectors such as oil and gas, mining, trade and investment, energy, defence, transport, agriculture, fisheries, banking, telecommunications and finance.
