Africa-Press – Angola. The bishop of the Tocoista Church, Dom Afonso Nunes, called on society, this Monday, in the village of Catete, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, to adopt a civic conduct that helps to strengthen love for others, respect for elders and worship of God.
The religious left this advice at the opening of the cycle of conferences that mark the 88 years of the theophany, lasting five days, during which the faithful plan to reflect on the social and Christian life of citizens.
According to Dom Afonso Nunes, the conception of new concepts about the family, the deviation from the real meaning of marriage and the adoption of anti-social laws, manifest the level of degradation and moral depravity in which humanity is reaching.
For him, Angola needs to be a resilient country, against all the new concepts that humans are implementing, which the ancestors did not teach.
“We need to preserve all our good customs, which are based on respect for the sacred, for the elderly and for superior authorities, in their various aspects”, he appealed.
He highlighted the importance of God, family and work, as fundamental and irreplaceable values, in a nation, which must be protected and defended.
The conferences precede the pilgrimage of the Tocoista Church that will take place from the 21st to the 23rd of this month, in the village of Catete, where thousands of Christians are expected.
Dom Afonso Nunes referred that carrying out this activity in that circumscription and in Southern Africa, demonstrates the importance that is to be attributed to the appearance of God in human form, which happened after about 450 years of occupation, colonization and enslavement of Africans, in particular of the Angolans.
He made it known that social problems cannot be humanly solved without taking into account the extra cosmic order.
“It is time for the world to stop, leave its selfishness and impious ego, to look more to God”, he advised.
