Africa-Press – Angola. The Minister of Territory Administration (MAT), Dionísio Manuel da Fonseca, yesterday asked for support from the residents’ committees of the municipality of Cuito, Bié province, in the preservation of public assets, in favor of the well-being of the communities.
Speaking at the meeting he held with the Cuito residents’ committees, as part of his visit to Bié, the official also highlighted the importance that the residents’ committees play in the execution of public policies, above all in solving the most pressing problems in the neighborhoods and communities.
Therefore, he asked these institutions to collaborate with the government authorities in approving any projects aimed at citizens, taking into account the active participation of the commissions that the State needs.
In turn, the governor of this region, Pereira Alfredo, said that the local Government, despite registering good results from the actions and projects obtained, has the social sector as a priority, especially to improve the distribution of energy, water, construction of schools, units health and other areas.
Pereira Alfredo also pointed out to continue actions to improve access roads, assistance to peasants for agricultural promotion, among others, with a view to boosting the socio-economic development of Bié.
The administrator of Cuito, Abel Guerra Paulo, who presented a brief characterization of the Biena capital, confirmed that, in the last three years, the Local State Administration, among several programs, proceeded to deliver more than five plots of land, of which , for 2023, over two thousand are expected to be delivered, for self-construction.
In Cuito there are 365 residents’ commissions, 110 councils and 337 traditional authorities.
Cuito has more than 600,000 inhabitants, the majority of whom are peasants, distributed in the communes of Trumba, Cunje, Cambândua and Chicala.
