Africa-Press – Angola. After the launch of the contract, in January 2021, construction work on the administrative and municipal building in the municipality of Cuito, in the province of Bié, could start on the 15th of this month of May.

Initially, the works were under the responsibility of the Belo Empreendimentos, Soares da Costa and NOV Engenharia e Construções consortium, which won the tender for the purpose, which lasted 18 months, worth AOA 4 billion and 818 million.

What is certain is that until yesterday almost nothing has been done on the site, except for the sealing of the space. The reasons for the contractual termination were not advanced.

This Tuesday, the Minister of Territory Administration, Dionísio Manuel da Fonseca, visited the site where the infrastructure will be built, having received assurances from the head of the new contracted company “Sinohidro”, Wang Yan Li, that the work will start on the 15th of this month.

According to Wang Yan Li, the shipyard is currently under construction, to accommodate more than 30 workers, including Angolans and Chinese, who in the first phase will ensure the start of the work.

As part of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), the infrastructure, to be built in an area of 2.25 hectares, will comprise one floor, with 17 departments and an area for the municipal assembly, as well as two auditoriums, with 86 and 50 seats.

It will have administrative and technical buildings, including the municipal assembly area.

Meanwhile, in statements to press the deputy governor for the Technical and Infrastructure sector of Bié, Edgar Hilário, denied information circulating on social networks that reported the construction of the municipal building with local material (adobe and zinc sheet ).

According to the official, the municipal building of Cuito is designed to be built with neoclassical standards, that is, conventional material (foundation, brick, slab, tile), approved by the owner of the work (the State).

He also recalled that, even though it is a work of central scope, it should be accompanied by the government authorities of this province, taking into account that it will confer dignity on the populations and its users in particular.
