Africa-Press – Angola. The Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas Albino, denied, this Tuesday, in Luanda, the existence of acts of persecution against journalists in Angola, and underlined that professionals of the class carry out the activity freely.

According to the official, who was speaking on the sidelines of the workshop on “Freedom of expression and other human rights”, promoted by the Regulatory Entity of Social Communication (ERCA), this is “a false problem” defended by some professionals.

According to the source, the activity is carried out in such a way without persecution, that some alternative means to the traditional ones even demonstrate “libertinism” in their contents.

Nuno Caldas Albino stated that, in the last five years, Angola has registered improvements in the exercise of communication, having encouraged professionals of the class to excel in rigor and responsibility.

He pointed out that despite these remarkable steps in this field, there is awareness that more work is needed, so the Government is committed to creating a legal environment conducive to improving social communication.

He said that this work will depend on all those involved in this process, so that they can in fact continue to achieve a better level of what is expected from the media in Angola.

The official saluted and congratulated all Angolan journalists, for the celebration of another World Press Freedom Day, to be celebrated on Wednesday, attributing greater responsibility for the dimension that communication assumes and its irreversible role in shaping society from the point of view practical.
