Africa-Press – Angola. General Tax Administration (AGT) and the General Directorate of Customs and Excise Tax (DGDA) of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) reinforced, in Kinshasa, measures to prevent and combat fraud and facilitate cross-border trade.

The action discussed between the 11th and 13th of the month is part of the framework of the Customs Mutual Administrative Assistance Agreement and the Joint Action Plan, approved by the Parties, in April 2021.

The meeting, according to a note made available, also served for a detailed analysis of the constraints experienced by Angolan economic operators who transit Congolese territory.

At the opening of the meeting, the highest leaders of the two administrations, namely the chairman of the Board of Directors of AGT, José Leiria, and the director general of Customs of the DRC, Blandine Walwom, praised the results achieved as a result of the joint meetings between the provinces of both countries, which share the common border.

“Taking into account that the actions already developed and which are intended to be disseminated together, if developed, will guarantee good border management, through more assertive measures, capable of preventing and repressing cross-border fraud”, said AGT CEO, José Leiria.

After the meeting and discussion of the 10 scheduled themes, recommendations were produced that will appear in the Joint Communiqué of the said meeting, as well as in the Action Plan with the subsequent measures to be adopted.

The parties agreed to hold the next mixed meeting, to be held in Luanda, in May 2024.
