Africa-Press – Angola. Mestre Fide (MF) Jemima Paulo drew Saturday against Mestre Internacional (MI) Lina Nassr, from Algeria, in the last match of the individual African Chess Championship, played from the 6th to the 13th of this month, in Egypt.

With this result, the Angolan chess player from the Ditrov school was in eighth place, with 5.5 points, and missed the goal of winning the title, made by Lina Nassr, who totaled 7.5 points.

In turn, the Angolan Esperança Caxita, International Master, failed in her goal of winning the title of Grand Master (GM), by placing 13th, with 4.5.

The 1o de Agosto player lost at the end of the event against the representative of the African Chess Confederation.

Caxita, the best national athlete in the FIDE women’s ranking, had as her main objective to win the event and add points in order to obtain the unprecedented title for Angola in GM.

32 chess players from 18 countries took part, in a test held in the Swiss system in all against all in one turn.
