The massification of Boxing in all provinces of the country is a priority of Simão Muanda’s electoral program, for the suffrage of the Angolan Federation of the sport (FABOXE) referring to the 2020/2024 Olympic Cycle, whose election takes place on the 27th of the current month , in Luanda.
The former boxer and three-time African champion in the Austral Region is the only candidate for FABOXE’s top cauldron, which for two years went through an administrative crisis, putting the sport in a period of lethargy.
Situation resulting from the electoral process, considered irregular, which culminated in the re-election of Carlos Luís, as chairman of the board for the four-year period 2020/2024, a claim not recognized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
On the sidelines of his visit to Huíla, to present the main lines of his electoral program and verify the current state of Boxing in the province, Simão Muanda made it known that in order to materialize such a desideratum it is necessary to “attack” the base , starting with the training of referees and coaches.
“By training these two fundamental figures for Boxing, we will be in a position to guarantee massification and in the one and a half year that we have left to finish the Olympic cycle, we will do everything to have the greatest number of practitioners of the modality in this massification project”, he emphasized. .
He detailed that knowing the house well, it is possible to catapult the modality, because the biggest obstacle has been the sports material, but with the training of the man and with this facility that exists, now with a factory of sports material, with the will and dedication of the practitioners, Boxing will evolve.
He highlighted that even without an opponent, this fact did not inhibit him from making verification visits to the provinces, and where he passed the main difficulties are linked to the lack of rings, a conjunctural situation, except Luanda.
“We have to change this paradigm, because it is impossible to develop Boxing without having a competition stage and we made a proposal to the higher authorities, in the sense of having a ring for each province”, he alluded.
He underlined that due to the short time left for the elections, some provinces were selected, having already passed through Cabinda, Uige, Malange, Huambo, Benguela and Huíla.
Motivation of candidacy for the presidency of FABOXE
According to Simão Muanda, he applied motivated by the decadence of the modality, with the young practitioners being harmed, as it is a litigation that takes almost two years and there was this need to accept the challenge.
“We will do everything to change this black picture, to make Boxing return to the panorama of national and international sport and in this path the boxing family is called to unite to develop the modality”.
