Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Navy (MGA) is in growing development and equipped with experienced professionals capable of undertaking a rigorous fight against maritime piracy, said this Sunday, the Chief of the General Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Aviation General Altino dos Santos.

In a message addressed to the staff of this branch of the FAA, on the occasion of its 47th anniversary, to be celebrated on Monday (10), the military official stressed that the permanent operational readiness of the MGA “conveys full confidence that our sovereignty country across the sea will never be called into question”.

The Chief of the General Staff of the FAA emphasized that the challenges of the present and the future are demanding for the staff of this military body.

He recalled that MGA’s trajectory was marked by several structural and organizational phases that have allowed the permanent training of its staff and the progressive re-equipment and modernization of the branch’s units with modern technical means.

He added that the modernization of MGA’s technical means has ensured greater capacity “in successfully fulfilling the noble mission of firmly ensuring the defense of the Nation’s superior interests through national waters”.

In the message, CEMG-FAA expressed the hope that “the brave sailors continue to bravely defend the territorial sea and the exclusive economic zone with the same mastery, courage and determination as always (…)”.

The Angolan Navy (MGA), created on July 10, 1976, is the naval branch of the FAA whose mission is to protect the maritime and river waters of the national territory and other strategic objectives of the country.
