Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan ambassador to Equatorial Guinea, António Luvualo de Carvalho, yesterday invited Australian businessmen to invest in the national territory, taking into account the numerous potential existing in the mining, agriculture, transport and tourism sectors.
The diplomat, who was speaking at the end of the 1st annual conference of the Angola-Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA-AU), said that in addition to the aforementioned areas, businessmen are invited to invest in various sectors of the country.
According to the official, currently the relations that Angola has with Australia focus only on the mineral sector with several Australian companies present in Angolan territory.
At this time, Australia does not have an embassy in Angola. The closest Australian embassy to Angola is located in Pretoria, South Africa.
Meanwhile, the Republic of Angola and Australia are negotiating the signing of important legal instruments that could give a new dynamic to relations between the two countries.
The ambassador said that the deals consist of a general cooperation agreement, a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two, as well as the Agreement on Exemption from Visas and Diplomatic Service Passports and a Cooperation Agreement between the two diplomatic academies.
Relations between Angola and Australia began in the 1980s, an act formalized with a view to deepening bilateral economic relations.
Angola and Australia are members of international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
There is also a cooperation agreement between the two nations in the field of agriculture.
Furthermore, Australia is an important trading partner of Angola, mainly exporting equipment and services to the Angolan mining sector.
There is also a significant number of Angolan students in Australia, studying in different areas, such as business, technology and others.
Among others, the 1st Annual Conference of the Angola-Australia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIA-AU) aimed to strengthen the business rapprochement between Angolan and Australian companies, as well as analyze the Australian ecosystem and assess the impact of Australia’s presence in Africa.
