Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan government is implementing a set of actions aimed at ensuring population growth suited to the country’s economic reality, taking a greater dividend from human capital, said this Wednesday, the Minister of State for Social Affairs, Dalva Ringote.

Speaking to the press, at the end of the 2023 African Summit on Human Capital, held in Dar-Salaam, Tanzania, he said that in the field of education there is a set of projects that in the short, medium and long term will have a positive impact on issues of population growth .

He recalled that there is no economy that sustains the accelerated pace of population growth, therefore, in the field of education, in the first instance, the issue of training and management of teaching staff will be looked at.

In his view, it is important for the country to have teachers who are up to the professional needs, teaching courses in a clear and objective manner.

In this area, he also highlighted the learning program for all, with special attention to young girls, where the focus is on combating school dropouts as a result of early pregnancy, caused by misinformation.

I mentioned that this program, launched in 20022, in coordination with the World Bank, will help girls to be equipped with skills and competences, in order to make decisions about their lives and the environment in which they are inserted.

Regarding higher education, he highlighted that there is also a set of actions that are being carried out to guarantee the continuous training of teachers.

The Minister of State also referred to the scholarship program that gives Angolan students access to elite universities at an international level.

As for the Health sector, Dalva Ringote said that several actions are being developed, noting that, in the five-year period 2018/2022, 163 hospital units were built on the first, second and third levels.

He also highlighted the implementation of policies aimed at reducing maternal and child mortality, particularly the program to cut the transmission of HIV/AIDS from mother to child “Nascer livre para Brilhar”, which, since 2018, has allowed the reduction of the rate of contagion from 26 to 15%.

Dalva Ringote said that in order to obtain greater dividends from human capital, the government is also investing in the energy sector, so that energy reaches all rural communities and young people have access to digital technologies.

The event was promoted by Tanzania, in partnership with the World Bank Group. It took place under the motto “Accelerating Africa’s economic growth: increasing youth productivity by improving learning and skills”.
