Africa-Press – Angola. The president of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, congratulated, this Friday, Domingos Simões Pereira on his election as president of the National Popular Assembly of Guinea-Bissau.
PAIGC leader and coordinator of the Inclusive Alliance Platform – Terra Ranka, Domingos Simões Pereira was elected, on Thursday, 27, president of the Guinean Parliament, in the first session of the 11th legislature, with 89 votes in favor and three abstentions, among 92 voters.
In a message sent to her counterpart, Carolina Cerqueira added that the election of Domingos Simões Pereira corresponds to the will of the Guinean people, as a result of the democratic process underway in the country.
Carolina Cerqueira expresses her willingness and desire to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two parliamentary institutions.
The president of the AN takes the opportunity to invite the counterpart from Guinea-Bissau to participate in the 147th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union (UIP) which will take place from the 23rd to the 27th of October in Luanda, under the motto: “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”.
The former Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau and leader of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) obtained an absolute majority in the legislative elections on June 4, with 54 of the 102 deputies of the National Popular Assembly (ANP).
