MPLA reaffirms its commitment to the consolidation of democracy

Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA reaffirmed, this Friday, the commitment to continue working for the maintenance of national peace, unity and cohesion, as well as for the consolidation of democracy in the country.

This position appears in the communiqué of the III Ordinary Meeting of the Political Bureau (BP) of the MPLA, guided by the party leader, João Lourenço.

In the document, the ruling party in Angola ensures that it will continue to work so that the young Angolan democracy is not put in danger, “in an irresponsible way”.

Last week, UNITA announced that it would trigger mechanisms for the removal of the President of the Republic, on the grounds of violation of the Constitution, which the MPLA considers to have no political, legal, procedural or regimental legs to walk.

By the way, the BP of the MPLA appeals, in the communiqué of the III meeting this Friday, to the citizens to maintain serenity and calm.

Participants at the meeting expressed unconditional support for the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, for his sense of State and the “patriotically dedicated way in which he has led the country’s destinies”.

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the MPLA also appreciated the information on the activities carried out by its secretariat in the 1st Quadrimester of the current year.

The meeting analyzed the Proposal for the Party’s Information and Communication Technologies Policy and the candidacy for the post of First Provincial Secretary of JMPLA in Malanje.

The participants approved the nomination of the militant Augusto José, in the position of director of the Center for Documentation and Historical Research of the Central Committee.
