Lot 1 residents reject resettlement in Mayé-Mayé

Africa-Press – Angola. The Commission of Residents of Lot 1 of Prenda, Maianga, this Friday, once again, rejected the solution found by the Municipal Administration of Luanda to rehouse families in the urbanization Mayé-Mayé, municipality of Cacuaco, in this emergency period and sensitive.

The announcement was made by the Municipal Administration of Luanda after meeting with the residents of building number 1 of the Prenda lots, evicted from the five-story property, which has existed for over 50 years.

On the 22nd of April, 41 families were evacuated from the aforementioned building, after vibrations were registered in its structure and an imminent risk of collapse was identified.

She adds that, concerned about the residents, the authorities met, once again, with the Residents’ Commission, which defended the return to the degraded building.

“As these are untimely processes, the Luanda Municipal Administration once again appeals to the sensitivity of the building’s residents, so that they reconsider and implement the solution found”, reads the document.

Located on the outskirts of the centrality of Sequele, Cacuaco, Luanda, the Mayé-Mayé housing project began in 2016 and brings together a set of over two thousand T2 and one thousand T3 residences, and social infrastructure such as schools, health center, civil protection and fire services, among others.
