Africa-Press – Angola. The first provincial secretary of the MPLA in Luanda, Manuel Homem, this Saturday reaffirmed the party’s commitment to improving the living conditions of Angolans.
The leader was speaking at the mass act, within the framework of the relaunch of the Political and Patriotic Days of the Provincial Committee of Luanda of the MPLA, which takes place under the designation “My Cap, My Party”.
“The MPLA has never abandoned the people, nor has it ever given up fighting for the people, it has always been with them in all the difficult moments in the country’s history and will continue to be, especially in this moment in which we live in an unfavorable economic situation”, said the leader .
He also said that the party is aware of the difficulties, having expressed hope for better days, and the people should believe in the strength and capacity of the MPLA to solve the problems.
“Only together and united will it be possible to do more and better for Angola and the Angolans”, declared Manuel Homem at the event, which was also attended by MPLA secretary general, Paulo Pombolo, members of the Political Bureau, the Provincial Committee of Luanda .
The first provincial secretary of the MPLA in Luanda informed, however, that the Political and Patriotic Days “My CAP, My Party” aim at bringing the leaders closer to the bases, with a focus on the reorganization of the bases. With that, Manuel Homem once again reaffirmed the position of the MPLA with regard to UNITA’s action, especially its Parliamentary Group
It is intended, continued Manuel Homem, to give greater strength to the Party’s Comtés de Acção (CAP) and allow them to discuss at their level all matters inherent to the internal life of political formation, as well as the problems that afflict the population.
On the occasion, he warned the militants and the population, in general, not to be deceived by false campaigns, moved by entities that do not wish the good of Angolans.
The first secretary also said that the “MPLA does not sell dreams and illusions like some of its political opponents”.
which announced that it would trigger mechanisms for the removal of the President of the Republic, on the grounds of violation of the Constitution.
However, the MPLA considers that the opposition party’s claim has no political, legal, procedural or regimental legs to walk.
In his speech, he also mentioned several facts related to this political formation (UNITA), including the breach of commitments assumed with the Bicesse Agreement, the Lusaka Protocol, the fact of never having approved a General State Budget ( OGE) in the National Assembly (AN), among others, which demonstrate that historically it has always had a position that it considered wrong.
The politician also referred that the MPLA is the leading force of Angolan society and has managed to overcome all the adversities that arise in order to prevent its victorious journey.
For this reason, he considered that “the MPLA is a certainty that is constantly renewed, always accompanying the present and future dynamics and challenges”, which requires commitment and dedication from all militants and supporters in complying with the guidelines of the party leadership.
The Political and Patriotic Days take place within the scope of the Action Plan approved by the party’s leadership in the province, having as a starting point the implementation of the second axis of the Political Agenda of 2023, which foresees to improve the organization of the party and carry out, until 2027, several activities to reaffirm its dimension as the greatest political force in Luanda for the improvement of citizens’ living conditions and the consolidation of the Angolan nation.
