Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Huíla province, Nuno Mahapi, said this Saturday in Ondjiva, Cunene, that the existing cattle herd in the southern region of the country constitutes a solid basis for the diversification of the country’s economy and socio-economic development.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the Cattle Auction in Cunene province, he explained that the southern region has the largest livestock asset, which translates into one of the great riches of the population.
Nuno Mahapi stressed that the cattle auction constitutes a stimulus for all those who dedicate themselves to raising cattle, as well as a bet to leverage this precious asset.
It is necessary to take advantage of all the opportunities that the fair offers, not only for doing business, but also for promoting the private sector, towards satisfying the needs of the population.
He said that the event takes place at a time of interest in the diversification of the national economy, where creators must continue to give results to make the southern region stronger and more developed.
For this reason, he pointed out the importance of the cooperative in the south of Angola to do its utmost in improving the quality of the species.
The governor of the region of Oshana, Republic of Namibia, Walter Ndeshia, praised the partnership and brotherhood between the people of the region and Angola, as well as the business partnership.
Walter Ndeshia stressed that the auction constitutes a moment of exchange of learning and cooperation between Namibian and Angolan breeders, who were able to acquire some animals.
The Namibian official also praised the progress that Cunene province has been registering over the last 53 years, underlining the construction of infrastructures such as the general hospital that will ensure one of the fundamental aspects of safeguarding human life.
The cattle auction is one of the main attractions of Expo-Cunene, which takes place within the framework of the festivities for the founding of the province of Cunene, marked on the 10th of July.
