Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, reaffirmed, this Monday, his personal commitment and determination in favor of the socio-political emancipation of women and congratulated the African Women’s Day that is celebrated today.
In a publication on the social network Facebook, João Lourenço considers the emancipation of women “a path of no return” and recognized “in this special being the gift of generating, caring and managing families, but also the genius of creating ideas and directing nations”.
The Angolan statesman congratulated “the ladies for the conquests they have achieved in the long struggle for their empowerment”.
African Women’s Day is celebrated annually on the 31st of July. Its institutionalization dates back to 1962 at the Conference of African Women in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania.
At the same Conference, the Pan-African Women’s organization was created.
The date aims to praise women for their important role in preserving and transmitting civic values, as well as morals, as well as in strengthening the cohesion and unity of families, as the fundamental nucleus of society.
