Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, received, this Monday, a message from his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, about the holding of general elections in that country, scheduled for 23 August.
The Minister of Defense of Zimbabwe, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, received the letter, received by the Angolan Head of State as a special envoy of the President of that country.
At the end of the meeting, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said that it was already a tradition at the level of the Community for the Development of Southern Africa (SADC) to inform the other Heads of State members of the organization about the preparation of elections in the Republic of Zimbabwe.
“The aim was also to explain the current political, economic and social situation prevailing in our country, within the framework of SADC dictates”, informed Emmerson Mnangagwa’s emissary.
Angola and Zimbabwe, member countries of SADC cooperate in the sectors of agriculture, tourism, transport and staff training.
Located in Southern Africa, like Angola, Zimbabwe is a country nestled in the south of the continent, between the Zambezi and Limpopo rivers.
The country is limited to the north by Zambia, to the north and east by Mozambique, to the south by South Africa and to the west by Botswana.
