Africa-Press – Angola. The production of diamonds by Sociedade Mineira de Catoca, from January to the present date, reached five million carats, but 12 percent in relation to the previous period, informed the Director of Planning and Control of Catoca, Marçal Vigário.

Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of a visit made by the African Association of Women in Geosciences (AAMG) to the mining company, the director said that diamond production is in the order of 70 percent of the objectives set, where the goal is to reach figure of eight million carats by the end of the year.

He stated that Catoca is within the established plan, despite the treatment area being a little lower, we are within the forecasts and we will reach the goal.

As for the recovery, he said that Catoca complies with a plan approved annually by the shareholders and the same is strictly complied with.

On the other hand, Marçal Vigário said that the visit of the Association of African Women in Geosciences to the mine is a great contribution and encouragement to women from Minas Gerais in Catoca, as it is one of the company’s intentions to have this fringe linked to geosciences on its staff.

“The diamond company maintains the enhancement and enhancement of human capital as a primary task to keep production levels high,” said the Director of Planning and Control at Catoca.

The visit was part of the closure of the 10th International Conference of the African Association of Women in Geosciences. The delegation of at least 40 women maintained contact with the “Energy Center and Treatment Center” areas, as well as visiting the community of Sambaia.
