Africa-Press – Angola. The general secretaries of the parties MPLA, FRELIMO, MLSTP/PSD, PAICV and PAIGC decided, Monday, to maintain greater political concertation, for a more effective and efficient action in favor of sustainable economic development and the well-being of the respective peoples.
According to the final communiqué of the meeting of the general secretaries of the parties, which were liberation movements, it is necessary to promote and protect the legacy of these organizations that fought against the Portuguese colonial yoke.
They also decided to extend the mutually advantageous cooperation between the political parties of the former liberation movements.
In this context, another aspect highlighted was the creation of effective and permanent lines of communication, as well as the promotion of party-political and parliamentary diplomacy.
These political organizations made it a priority to create an electronic library for sharing the stories and memories of the national liberation struggle.
The general secretaries of the former national liberation movements agreed to adapt the structures of the political parties to the new social dynamics facing the current challenges of globalization.
They decided to create a joint political-ideological training plan for militants and cadres of their political parties.
Under the motto “United by history and in the fight for a better future”, the meeting was attended by the general secretaries of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, of FRELIMO, Roque Samuel, of the PAICV, Julião Varela, and of the PAIGC, António Patrocínio Silva, while the MLSTP/PSD of São Tomé and Príncipe was represented by its secretary for Foreign Affairs.
On the occasion, the MPLA secretary general said that the meeting created an opportunity in matters of political training for staff, action on social networks and management of the municipal process.
He took advantage of the occasion to pay homage to his former companions from African countries.
Paulo Dombolo believes that the relationship between his parties will be renewed from generation to generation.
The secretary general of FRELIMO defended cooperation between the liberating parties for the prosperity of peoples, while Julião Varela thanked the initiative and proposes to do everything to return to power in the 2026 elections.
The Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the MLSTP, from São Tomé, Edite Jua, underlined that the essential thing is to continue to promote freedom and the country’s development.
